Speaker: DTer Vicki Gold Levi, writer, art collector, and curator, will talk about her recent exhibition at Wolfsonian-Florida International University, “ Cuban Caricature and Culture: The Art of Massaguer.” With his biting political satire, celebrity caricatures, magazine and advertising illustrations, renowned graphic artist and Dutch Treater Conrado Walter Massaguer (1889-1965) helped shape the visual culture of his native Cuba from the 1920s to the 1950s. Vicki brings forth Massaguer’s
Einstein and many other notables, all evidence of Havana’s then-cosmopolitan culture in the decades before the Cuban revolution. Entertainer: Multiple Emmy winning writer, Luis Santeiro, known for his work on Sesame Street and Que Pasa, USA? will sing selections from his one-man cabaret show “From the Shower to the Stage”.
