SPEAKER: MICHAEL RIEDEL
Michael Riedel returns to DTC and will discuss his new book “Singular Sensation: The Triumph
of Broadway,” which chronicles Broadway in the 1990’s. He touches on the end of the
Andrew Lloyd Webber era, the return of musical comedy, the impact of “Rent”, and Broadway’s
comeback after the 9/11 attacks. He will also discuss COVID-19 and its impact on Broadway.
Michael’s prior book, “Razzle Dazzle”, won the Marfield prize for arts writing in 1915. Michael
was the theater columnist for the “New York Post” for 22 years, and is now the co-host of “Len
Berman and Michael Riedel in the morning” on 710 WOR, while continuing to write for the Post,
“Vanity Fair” and other publications.
ENTERTAINER: WILLY FALK
Willy Falk received a Tony© Award nomination for his portrayal of Chris in the original Broadway production of Miss Saigon. Other Broadway Credits: Starlight Express, The Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Les Misérables. Among his many other theatre credits, his favorites include a revival of George M! with Joel Grey, Little Shop of Horrors with Dom DeLuise, Pacific Overtures Off-Broadway working with Stephen Sondheim, recording the concept cd of Jekyll and Hyde, playing the lead and recording Shelter, and creating roles in many new musical theatre works. Recently, Willy has performed solo cabaret shows and made several recordings. His debut show: “Willy Falk: Mostly Love” played in New York, London, and Honolulu. His albums and singles are available on all streaming media.
