SPEAKER: GILLIAN SORENSEN
GILLIAN SORENSEN has had a long career with the United Nations. She served as Special Adviser for Public Policy; then as Assistant Secretary-General for External Relations in the UN Secretariat under Boutros Boutros-Ghali and Kofi Annan where she was responsible for outreach to the academic world, religious leaders, civil society, politicians and diplomats from around the world. She directed the UN's 50th Anniversary global observances and the coordination of the UN50 Summit with Presidents and Prime Ministers. She later worked as National Advocate for the United Nations Foundation launched by Ted Turner. She began her career as New York City Commissioner for the UN and Consular Corps.
With her late husband Ted, writer and attorney, they were active in political life.

Dawn Derow is known as a versatile jazz & cabaret singer who can move effortlessly from Opera to Pop. BFA from the Boston Conservatory.
Bistro winner (2016) and 3X MAC Awards, most recently in 2022 for her Album My Ship: Songs from 1941 which she will be performing in London March 2023 at the Pheasantry. She's performed at 54 Below, Birdland, Carnegie Hall twice, Rose Hall at Jazz at Lincoln Center and many more.
She's been touring her cabaret productions My Ship: Songs from 1941, Backyard Troubadours with Peter Calo, Dawn Derow Sings Eydie Gormé, and she is revising Music 4 Two (2013 album) with Sean Harkness this this spring at Pangea. When not performing, Dawn is a highly sought-after Fitness & Mobility Coach. She currently resides in Palm Beach Florida with her husband & dog. www.dawnderow.com
