An acclaimed critic, journalist, and songwriter-musician, DAVID HAJDU tells the story of art’s relation to machines, from the Baroque period to the age of AI. What does it mean to be human in a world where machines, too, can be artists? The Uncanny Muse explores the history of automation in the arts and delves into one of the most momentous and controversial aspects of AI: artificial creativity. The adoption of technology and machinery has long transformed the world, but as the potential for artificial intelligence expands, David Hajdu examines the new, increasingly urgent questions about technology’s role in culture.

KAREN OBERLIN is proud to have been an Entertainment Director, Co-Entertainment Chair with Raissa Katona Bennett, and Board of Governors member for many years at the DTC. About her performances, the New York Times said; "Beyond having a pretty voice, poise, and interpretive insight, (she has) musical intelligence and is a thorough researcher." She received the Mabel Mercer Foundation’s Donald F. Smith Award along with NY Nightlife, Bistro, and BroadwayWorld Awards, multiple MAC Awards, and an Honorary Doctorate in Music. NYC major engagements include the Algonquin's Oak Room, Feinstein’s/54 Below, the Café Carlyle, and Birdland, along with Carnegie Hall and Jazz at Lincoln Center, among others. She has toured extensively across the U.S. and has annual engagements in London and elsewhere overseas. Ms. Oberlin has four solo recordings on the Miranda Music label, and she and Tedd Firth are currently working on a duo album celebrating their 25-year musical collaboration. . www.karenoberlin.com
